We’re so thrilled to announce that Sally the giraffe has welcomed her second daughter! Both Sally and her calf are doing extremely well, and at this stage are still bonding behind-the-scenes. After waiting 15 months to meet this precious little girl, we’re so excited for her to join our herd which is home to Skye, Lily and Tulip who were also born here at the Zoo! This baby giraffe will be named at the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in LA, where her name will be chosen by one lucky bidder, comment your suggestions below!
Not only does Caloundra offer 6 different beaches to enjoy, it is just 1 hour 20 minutes drive from Brisbane and has been a popular and much loved holiday destination since the first hotel was built on Shelley Beach in the 1880's.
A fabulous beach setting, Caloundra makes for a convenient holiday spot for families, with fishing, sailing, snorkeling, boat hire, windsurfing, jetskiing, picnics and parks just some of the activities on offer to keep all the family amused. Each of the main beaches are in close proximity to a great range of restaurants and hotels.
Golden Beach is the most southerly of Caloundra's beaches, with a tranquil east facing position on Pumiceston Passage, it makes an ideal spot for just about all watersports and perfect swimming for all the family. Kings Beach is the most popular surf beach that is lifeguard patrolled seven days a week. Major attractions in the area include Australia Zoo, made famous by the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin and the Glass House Mountains located south-west of Caloundra.
